Bavarian Brothers Brewing at the Bavarian Inn WV

Experience the newest edition to our European Inspired Boutique Resort. Sample seasonal beers made on site matched with intelligent, yet comfortable cuisine and small bites by Executive Chef Jeffrey Ault. Relax and enjoy our brews in the Brew Pub, Brew Lounge or outdoor Beer Garden.

Our Brew Pub and Lounge were designed by highly acclaimed “Industrial Design” of Frederick, Maryland. The Brew Pub features a dining area with wooden tables and chairs that can be set up flexibly for individual dining tables or to mimic a German style beer hall. Beautiful high A-frame type ceilings with exposed wooded beams, huge glass doors that access our new Garden Patio and views of the brewery and its stainless steel tanks make this an impressive space.

Our Brew Lounge is designed to give our guest an all day soft seating lounge and bar. Wood floors, leather sofas, high back chairs and a stone fireplace make this a great space to relax with friends. A state of the art wine preservation machine offers wine flights and 8 premium wines by the glass. The bar doubles as a quick service coffee counter in the morning featuring coffee drinks by local roaster, Black Dog Coffee and small pastries and breakfast bites.

The coolest part of our outdoor Beer Garden is the new fire pit. Enjoy after dinner drinks around the fire or families are invited to roast marshmallows with our S’more kits.

The Story behind the Logo

The sunburst symbol used in the center of the logo can be found on the front door of the Asamkirche, “Asam Church” in Munich Germany. Built in the 1700’s by two brothers , Egid Quirin Asam and Cosmas Damian Asam of whom Christian and David are believed to be direct descendants. the “sunburst” doors have welcomed visitors for over 300 years. The brewery is a nod to our family heritage and sunburst symbol means that all are “welcome” to enjoy our new adventure!

The Beers

Our beers are a representation of what we try to do throughout our resort, "Remember our European Roots, and Embrace our West Virginia Location". We constantly rotate and showcase different flavors from our onsite Boutique Brewery. While the selection may change, our promise is that the beer will always be of the utmost quality and consistently made.  Below is a sample of what you may find on your next visit.

Sozial, Session Ale - ABV 4.4%

The German word for social or socialize, that is what this easygoing brew is all about. With mild hops and a citrus finish, it’s the perfect beer to be “social” in our Lounge or Beer Garden.

Appalachia Ale, American Pale Ale - ABV 5.6%

While similar to the Session Ale this beer has the volume turned up a few notches. Named for the beautiful mountains and picturesque trails in our back yard that we like to get out and about to explore. .

Carol's Royal Stout - ABV 5.4%

A beer celebrating the Queen of the Bavarian Inn, Carol Asam. A native of Sheffield England, Carol’s proud British accent has filled the halls of the inn for the past 40 years.
Just like “her majesty,” this beer is expressive, and no nonsense, yet incredibly graceful on the palate.

Erwin's Angry Ale, I.P.A - ABV 6.6%

A nod the the founder of the Bavarian Inn, Erwin Asam. This beer is whimsically named to celebrate Erwin’s fine “German Engineering.” Known as a man of incredible work ethic, vision and velocity to accomplish all tasks, this mighty IPA lives up to its namesake.

Luggage Assistance, Porter - ABV 4.7%

Did you get it? Luggage Assistance…Porter. Sort of a hotel inside joke. The nose on this beer will amaze you, the balance on the palate will have you coming back for more. Sort of like that famous song…“you can check-out anytime you want, but you can never leave!”

Mecklenbrau German Pilsner - ABV 4.3%

Mecklenburg was the original name for Shepherdstown settled by German Settlers. Just like Shepherdstown took many years to be established, this beer takes tremendous patience in its nearly 8-week brewing process.
